How a Libra Box Gets Damaged - and How to Avoid It
A failed Libra box is rare. When one does fail, it is usually one of these - and every one of them is avoidable.

12 volts on the wrong wires
The Libra's power cord has two wires: white is +, black is ground. Never connect 12V to the weigh bar or junction box wires - it burns the board. When wiring to the tractor, use a 4 amp slow-acting fuse and at least 20 AWG wire. See 12 volt power.
Someone else's power cord
Use the Libra cord. A cord from another indicator - a GT460 cord, for example - has extra pins that can damage the box. Until you have the right cord, run it on its battery.
Jump-starting or charging the tractor
Unplug the Libra before you jump-start or put a charger on the tractor. A spike can take out the box, and its fuse is not one you can replace.
Water
- Keep the pressure washer off the box and its plugs.
- Keep the lid screwed down tight and mount the box with the connectors facing down.
- Readings that go wild after rain usually mean a wet connector. Dry it and test again.
- Green or white corrosion inside the box, a junction box or a plug means water has been in.
Battery and cord at the same time
Use the 12V cord or the battery, not both.
