Libra Cart Pre-Harvest Checklist
Half an hour in August saves a lost day in October. Most harvest-week Libra calls are things this list catches.
Draft - not yet approved
- New battery. Put a fresh battery in the Libra every season, even if it still works.
- Cables. Walk every cable from the bars to the box. Look for pinched, cut or chewed spots - mice get into stored equipment. On a walking tandem, check where the cable goes into the frame.
- Junction box and plugs. No corrosion, no water, dust caps on unused sockets, every plug snug.
- Device and app. Update the iPad and Libra Harvest. Check it is on iOS 13 or newer - see the new iPad checklist if you are changing devices.
- Power and pairing. Check the light inside the box flashes, then pair the iPad at the cart - not on the first day of harvest.
- Last season. Close it in Settings so field and truck totals start at zero. Bins with Carry Forward on keep their totals. See seasons.
- Settings. Automatic unload detection on, minimum load about 1,000 lb (1,500 to 2,500 on tracks), smoothing on, screen never sleeps.
- Test weigh. Zero the empty cart and stand on each bar - they should agree. Check the first load of the year against an elevator ticket.
- Parts now, not in October. If anything looks worn, order it now. Call 800-582-3175.
New operator this year? Have them run through the practice app or the Libra University course first.
